💪 About Us
MEA Charity is a self-funded, community-led organisation driven by volunteers who are passionate about supporting families in need.
Every dollar raised, every hour volunteered, and every donation received goes directly to helping families doing it tough.
Our mission is simple: Feed hope. Build community. Change lives.
We’re more than a charity we’re a family of everyday people helping others do more than survive to thrive.
Join us as we make a lasting difference across NSW and beyond.
❤️ Our Impact on Sydney Families
Since opening our doors in 2022, MEA Charity has supported hundreds of families across Sydney facing rising costs of living, unemployment, homelessness, and unexpected crises.
Through our affordable food hampers, we provide nutritious groceries, emergency food relief, weekly support for the elderly, and affordable bulk hampers for newly arrived migrant and refugee families.
“Without MEA, my kids would have gone to bed hungry some nights. The hampers mean I can feed them properly and still pay the rent. It’s been a lifeline.” Sydney mother
By turning surplus stock into practical food relief, MEA Charity has already rescued thousands of kilograms of food that would otherwise go to waste — and redirected it to Sydney households who need it most.
🚀 Our Challenges and Plans
Like many community charities, MEA faces several ongoing challenges but each one drives us to do more, reach further, and innovate together.
🌾 Growing Demand for Food Relief
With living costs and rent at record highs, more families than ever are reaching out for help.
Our plan: Expand partnerships with local businesses, supermarkets, and food distributors to secure a steady flow of surplus food — and collaborate with other charities to share resources and reach more people.
💰 Limited Funding & Resources
As a self-funded not-for-profit, MEA relies on donations and community support to operate.
Our plan: Build stronger corporate sponsorships, apply for government grants, and launch new fundraising streams — including community events and social enterprise initiatives.
🚚 Food Waste & Logistics
Too much perfectly good food still ends up in landfill due to mislabelling, damaged packaging, or short shelf life.
Our plan: Invest in better storage facilities, transport solutions, and volunteer training to rescue more food and deliver it faster to families in need.
📣 Awareness & Community Engagement
Many people still don’t know MEA exists or how they can help.
Our plan: Strengthen our outreach through social media, local schools, businesses, and councils, sharing real stories of impact to inspire donations and partnerships.
💡 Our Commitment:
These challenges motivate us to be even more innovative and resilient. MEA’s vision is clear to build a sustainable model of food relief that not only feeds families today but also creates long-term dignity, resilience, and hope across our community.
