We are a self-funded, community-led organisation driven by volunteers who are passionate about supporting families in need.
By rescuing surplus food and partnering with local suppliers, we nourish households, reduce food waste, and build a more sustainable future.
Driven by compassion, dignity, and community spirit, we don’t just deliver food we restore hope, rebuild confidence, and strengthen families across Australia.
Starting in the Parramatta area and growing across Sydney and beyond, our vision is a fairer, kinder Australia one family at a time.
Our Programs
🛒 Community Store Affordable Groceries with Dignity
With the cost of food and living increasing across Australia, MEA Charity has adjusted how we provide support moving from free hampers to a low-cost community store model that still helps families put food on the table.
We’ve seen a growing number of individuals and working families turning to MEA for support. After paying rent, school fees, fuel, and household bills, many families are left with as little as $50 a week to buy groceries.
That’s where MEA steps in.
Our community store provides affordable access to quality food helping families shop with dignity while easing financial pressure.

🎓 Educational Suppor
Knowledge changes lives.
Through workshops and skill-building sessions from financial literacy and healthy cooking to digital skills and job training — we empower individuals to create new opportunities and independence.
By helping families gain confidence and capability, we build resilience that lasts for generations.
🍎 Food Assistance
No family should go without food.
Our Food Assistance Program helps ease financial stress by offering affordable groceries, fresh produce, and pantry staples to families in need.
Through partnerships with supermarkets and local businesses, we rescue quality surplus food and deliver it to those who need it most — with dignity and care.
Whether it’s an emergency hamper, weekly groceries, or a visit to our low-cost community shop, we’re here to ensure every family has food on the table.

🎰 Supporting Families Affected by Gambling and Alcohol Harm
At MEA Charity, we also support many families who have been impacted by gambling and alcohol addiction.
Every week, we meet parents and individuals who’ve lost their last bit of money to poker machines and come to MEA seeking help to feed their families.
We believe local clubs and pubs have a moral responsibility to give back to the communities affected by gambling harm.
By partnering with charities like MEA, these venues can help repair the damage caused turning hardship into healing and loss into hope.
